Whose Voice Are You Following? OR ... THE SOUL FOOD FOUNDATION!!!
We are now in the NEW YEAR of 2018; the year of LIFE (18 is the number for LIFE). I believe there will be a “springing forward” into the fullness of what God has for His people (for you). I am so excited to see what comes forth this year. My heart cries out for revival and a mighty move of His Spirit across this nation and the nations of the world.
God has been challenging me to a greater level of obedience to His voice and His plans. Greater obedience means greater surrender. Surrender is not just an idea or a quick prayer. Surrender is a journey. This journey will take you down unchartered pathways which can often be somewhat fearful because it requires LETTING-GO of the things that we hang onto for the comfort of our soul.
Surrender requires one to leave many things behind and FOLLOW HIM. It is the ultimate test of the heart. Does your whole heart belong to God? Or does it belong to something or someone else?
The journey of surrender is a lifetime, day by day, journey of letting go and trusting God with everything in your life. We are to trust Him with every detail of our lives for it reaps the greater benefit and our true destiny. All else is just flesh or emotion or what I call “SOUL FOOD”.
We become experts at the “SOUL FOOD”; what feels good, looks good and is comfortable to our soul (our mind, will and emotions). We surround ourselves with the right music, the right view, the family, the children, the home, the car and whatever feels good and helps us feel secure. But when these things are out of alignment our soul suffers. Suddenly our home is lost or broken, our family is not perfect, the view we loved disappears, we have nothing to play the music on or lost our favourite song. Our perfect world becomes imperfect and we lose our peace and joy. We have built our life on the wrong foundation. The SOUL FOOD foundation.
There is a better way, a higher way, of living. It is the way of true peace and true joy. This HIGHER level of life cannot be found in the soul realm; it is only found in the realm of the spirit. You are a spirit and you live in a body. You are connected to the Holy Spirit of God through your spirit (not your soul), when you are truly connected to HIM you enter a more excellent way of life. This is a CHOICE.
A life built on SOUL FOOD can crumble quickly. It is like building a house on sand without a sure foundation. We are challenged to build our life on the solid foundation of the Spirit of God and His truth (His Rhema or voice of direction and confirmation and His Word). We are challenged to seek Him daily and hear His direction and truth for in HIM is life. True life is knowing HIM and following HIM … wherever He leads or whatever He requires. It is the BETTER WAY.
Only He can bring you to true purpose and destiny. As I sat and listened to HIM, He began to talk to me about the voice we are following. I believe this is a question that He is asking all of us TODAY as we start the New Year, 2018.
THIS IS WHAT I HEARD HIM SAY:
“If you are not following My Voice, whose voice are you following?
The voice of reason? (human reasoning) The voice of compromise? The voice of insecurity? The voice of pride? The voice of controversy? The voice of worry? The voice of fear? The voice of anger? The voice of greed? The voice of confusion? The voice of revenge? The voice of curiosity? The voice of manipulation? The voice of confusion? The voice of despair? The voice of the doctor? The voice of the lawyer? The voice of the financial adviser?
WHOSE VOICE ARE YOU FOLLOWING?”
We are to follow the voice of the Holy Spirit is ALL things. He will lead us into ALL truth and joy and fulfillment and purpose and destiny. He will direct our paths.
My challenge to you this year is this; Be a seeker of God, our Lord Jesus Christ, and follow His voice and His voice alone. Seek Him in ALL things this year and I know it will be the best year you have ever experienced.
TRUST HIM WITH YOUR LIFE AND THE LIVES OF THOSE YOU LOVE!
(Matthew 7:24-27; John 16:13; Matthew 6:33-34)
